Product Description

Arturia’s BeatStep offers a new degree of functionality and performance for a portable pad controller. BeatStep is highly versatile, capable of triggering clips in such applications as Ableton Live, it also allows you to play drums in conjunction with such applications as BFD or EZDrummer. BeatStep is also a 16-step analog sequencer for creating all kinds of musical phrases to be sent to analog synthesizers, MIDI drum machines, MIDI keyboard devices, or computer programs. Its vast connectivity allows you to interface BeatStep with a computer or iPAD using USB, a drum module using MIDI or an analog synthesizer equipped with CV/GATE.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH IT ?

Play with any drum software

Beatstep’s 16 pads are both pressure and velocity sensitive which means that they allow you to capture the nuances of your performance. Beastep is the perfect control surface for producers and percussionists using iPads or software instruments such as BFD, Kontakt, Live’s Drum Rack, EZ Drummer, Addictive Drums, Geist or Reason Kong.

Sequence Analog & Software Synthesizers

BeatStep goes beyond the typical pad controller functions by adding a step sequencer. This opens it up for people who are using either MIDI modules, CV/GATE synths like the MiniBrute or MicroBrute and also to people using plug-ins on their computer via USB. While your sequence is playing switch to Controller mode and use the pads and knobs to enable and disable effects or tweek filters, attack and decay times on plug-ins, etc. BeatStep will allow you to create new ideas and add to your live performances in unlimited ways.

Enhance Your Live Performances & DJ Sets

Whether you use Ableton Live, Traktor, Serato or any other DJ/clip playback software, the Beatstep pads are perfect for launching samples or enabling effects. The 16 encoders give you lots of possibilities of mapping them to eq’s, filters, delays and other performance effects. BeatStep makes a stylish and portable companion to your other DJ control surfaces.

Control Your MIDI Compatible Gears

Beatstep is the perfect solution for stage performers looking for a solution to send Midi messages and control changes to their hardware gear and workstations. Thanks to the included MIDI Control Center, mapping Beatstep to your needs becomes a breeze.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MIDI CONTROLLER MODE

With 16 velocity and pressure sensitive pads, BeatStep is the perfect compact solution for playing percussion. The ultra sensitive pads allow for great dynamic performances. The 16 encoders can be assigned to adjust parameters that allow further real-time control over your drum sounds.
Add to this the 16 user presets and you can have controller setups for all occasions.

The 16 pads can be individually set to be used for:
  • 1. Note generation
  • 2. MIDI CC buttons
  • 3. Sending program change messages

When used as note sending pads, these ultra sensitive backlit pads can send velocity and pressure information and support both Gate and Toggle modes of operation.
This allows you to use them to play drum and percussion parts using a drum module, or you can use them to trigger notes and hold drone notes in Toggle mode on a synthesizer.

In MIDI CC mode the pads could be used as assignable switches for your favorite DAW functions or used to trigger clips or effects in a Looping DAW or DJ application.

In MIDI Program change mode you can send program change messages as well as bank change messages.

STEP SEQUENCE MODE

The Step Sequence mode turns BeatStep into a completely different product. A step sequencer is the most basic type of music sequencer. They were popular in the 1960’s and 70’s. They have come back into fashion with the popularity of modular synthesizers. There are examples of step sequencers in our ARP2600 V, Modular V, and Jupiter 8 V software.

In SEQ mode, the pads and encoders work together to set and enable steps in a sequence and set pitches for each step.
By simply pressing a pad, it will enable or disable the current step in a melodic pattern. With a few presses, you are creating and changing up musical patterns in real-time.

BeatStep allows for 16 sequences to be stored in memory and recalled instantly. This allows you to play multiple patterns and create your own songs.

Setting pitches on a step sequencer can be difficult, to allow you to find the notes you want we added scale modes that quantize the pitches of the encoders to a specific set of notes. This means that instead of having the encoders move up and down chromatically like most step sequencers, you can set BeatStep so that you will only be allowed to pick notes that belong to the scale you want to work in. Look ma, no wrong notes!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MASSIVE CONNECTIVITY IN A LITTLE BOX

BeatStep goes beyond most other MIDI controllers by having many ways to connect to your other gear.

USB

It features USB Class compliant I/O for using it with your laptop or iPAD. This gives you the control you would expect to have from a pad controller. Control the transports on your favorite DAW, sequence your favorite plug-in, set up the encoders to modulate filters and eq’s or mixer channels. All this and more.

MIDI

BeatStep does not stop where the competition stops however, we added MIDI out as well. You can use the pads to control that old drum module or the drum sounds on your workstation. Use the Step Sequencer mode to bring new life to your MIDI equipped synthesizers. This controller will give you limitless ways to create and be great with no wait, but that’s not all, there is also…

CV/GATE

BeatStep has a standard 1 volt per octave CV  output as well as a standard 1 volt per octave GATE output. You can directly interface them with our famous MiniBrute or MicroBrute synthesizers. Combining Beatstep's step sequencing capabilities with a modular synth allows for all kinds of hands on control and pattern generation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TWO IN ONE AND BOTH AT ONCE

Now it is clear that this is both a pad/knob controller AND a step sequencer but it might not be clear that you can run them both at the same time.

Yes, that is right. You could be using the CV/gate output from the step sequencer playing your MiniBrute and then switch to CONTROL mode and have it controlling clips on Ableton Live and using the encoders to manipulate your VST version of SEM V.
Maybe playing the drum sounds on a vintage Roland drum module via the MIDI output and sequencing a SH-101 using the CV/GATE in SEQ mode is more your style.

What if you want to step sequence Jupiter 8V on MIDI ch 1 while controlling the MMC transports in Logic and playing the drum sounds from BFD on MIDI ch 10 both via USB? You can do that as well.
The combinations are truly limitless.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MIDI CONTROL CENTER

The MIDI Control Center software provides you with a fast and easy way to edit parameters.

Editing your MIDI setups and sequences is a cinch with this software.

Export your presets to back them up or create archives of your favorite presets to share with others.

Product Description

For anyone who prefers the hands-on experience of hardware sequencing and works with a wide variety of electronic music gear, the Arturia BeatStep Pro is a dream come true. Designed to play well with MIDI, USB, CV/Gate, and even DIN Sync platforms, the BeatStep Pro offers a combination of two independent sequencers, each with 64 steps per sequence. There's also a 16-track drum sequencer onboard with real-time recording and old-school step sequencing available. Now add on performance effects, a looper, a randomizer, and amazing tactile controls, and you can start to see the power of the BeatStep Pro.

BeatStep Pro is unlike anything you have ever used on stage or in the studio. Wherever you are, whatever gear is available, taking control of the creative process has never been so easy.

Three Sequencers

With BeatStep Pro you are master of the performance, taking full control of virtual devices, analog and digital instruments, drum machines and iPad apps all at once. 16 Projects are instantly accessible, each of which contains 16 sequences per melodic sequencer and 16 patterns for the drum sequencer. That’s over 4000 possible combinations per Project!

Each melodic sequence can be up to 64 steps long with individual articulation of pitch, velocity and gate time per note. These are the most powerful step sequencers ever made. The drum sequencer has 16 separate tracks per sequence (one per pad). Record in real time from the pads or use the step buttons for that classic drum machine workflow.

Perfect performance

BeatStep Pro brings together the most unique and sought-after performance effects available: a looper with a touch strip, a randomizer, swing settings and a slew of hands-on controls that will make your performances the stuff of legend.

Take control

Control mode lets you trigger clips in your favorite DAW, play sounds from an external device or make magic with your plug-in of choice. Take your music from idea to reality with BeatStep Pro.

Plays well with others (very, very well)

With BeatStep Pro you can connect to virtually any musical device within reach: computers, virtual instruments, modular synths, drum machines; anything with USB, MIDI in and out, CV/Gate outputs, Clock in and out, or DIN sync. From the oldest music technology to the newest and beyond, BeatStep Pro is bound to become the centerpiece of your setup and the heart of your creative efforts for many years to come.

Analog Lab offers the ability to do fast and simple editing and customizing of your presets but it doesn’t stop there; owners of the original individual synthesizer software products or the V Collection can open an Analog Lab sound and edit it in the original software, save it and then add it to their library.
Our new Multi mode allows you to create amazing layers and splits as well as warping and twisting your sounds with 17 high quality effects. Analog Lab will take your sound and workflow to a new level.

Software integration

Analog Lab is a virtual instrument, which means that sounds are processed within the computer. It can be used as a stand-alone application or as a plug-in within the main sequencer programs: Steinberg Cubase, Digidesign Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Apple Logic Audio, MOTU Digital Performer, Cakewalk Sonar.

Hardware integration

The user customizable MIDI mapping allows you to control the parameters you want to control with your favorite keyboard. Product Description

KeyLab 88 MkII is a piano-feel master controller that’s a joy to play, looks the part, is built to last, features effortless integration, and comes complete with a professional software instrument collection.

This isn’t just a MIDI controller. It’s a gateway to a better music-making experience.

Piano feel, any sound

The industry standard controller keyboard just got even better.

Redefining what a controller is capable of, KeyLab 88 MkII takes all of the things that professional users loved about our premier piano-feel controller and infuses the powerful, contemporary “MkII” feature set. Now you can play any instrument, control any synth, perform with any modular rig, all with the timeless feeling of a piano at your fingertips. The most expressive controller ever made, it also features multiple, assignable expression pedal inputs so you can have total control of your sound.

Looks that kill - It shouldn’t matter, but it does.

A full size controller keyboard is a big piece of kit, and if it’s going to be the centerpiece of your setup, it should look the part. KeyLab 88 MkII is not only packed full of awesome features, it looks like a timeless, well designed piece of studio gear that’s designed to be used day in, day out, and inspire you.

Awesome integration

With smart-mapping controls, clear labels, and even unique magnetic strips for each DAW, KeyLab 88 MkII takes the guesswork out of playing, recording, and mixing.

The rotary knobs, faders, and buttons are all automatically assigned to the most appropriate parameters in any Arturia software instrument, but it doesn’t stop there! KeyLab 88 MkII features CV/gate connectivity so you can also control your modular rig and vintage synths. It features MIDI ports, as well as MIDI over USB. It can even draw all its power via the same USB connection!

Tour ready - Beautiful, but ergonomic. Stylish, but understandable. Robust, but elegant.

KeyLab MkII 88 has been specially designed with touring professionals in mind. Its aluminium and wood chassis don’t bend or flex as you play, its build quality is unmatched. Not a wobbly knob in sight! Just as countless pro musicians depended on the original KeyLab 88 time and time again, KeyLab 88 MkII is destined to become a firm favorite among busy session players and performers.

Ultimate expression

KeyLab 88 MkII features one of the finest hammer-action, piano-weighted, aftertouch-enabled keybeds ever made: the Fatar TP/100LR.

When a light-weight keyboard simply won’t do, Arturia’s premier controller keyboard rises to the challenge of even the most demanding pianists and session players. The superb Fatar design is well known in the industry as the “weapon of choice” when it comes to high quality keybeds, providing beautifully tactile response. A weighted hammer action with real moving mechanical parts perfectly emulates the iconic balance and strike feeling of a traditional acoustic piano, but with all the benefits of a modern MIDI controller.

KeyLab 88 MkII’s back panel sports a wealth of pedal inputs too, and can be geared up to offer unmatched control in the studio and on stage. On top of the usual sustain and expression pedal inputs, you’ll also find three - yes, three - auxiliary pedal inputs that can be assigned in the Arturia MCC. Maybe you’d like to control amp gain, tremolo speed, and keyboard balance when you’re using an organ VST instrument like you’ll be able to find in Analog Lab? No problem. If you’re a guitarist who uses amp simulation on stage, can you imagine how incredible it would be to be able to have dedicated pedals for your wah, volume, and reverb levels? Whatever custom creative setup you can imagine, KeyLab 88 MkII can make it happen.

Workflow that works

When you’re in the creative zone, you need music tools that encourage you.

Every aspect of KeyLab 88 MkII has been carefully crafted to keep distractions to a minimum, and provide time-saving shortcuts that will keep your mind in the game. KeyLab 88 MkII features three distinct modes that you can instantly switch between for insanely efficient workflow.

Analog Lab Mode

Its Analog Lab mode gives you ultimate control over this powerful included software, automatically mapping KeyLab 88 MkII’s controls to specific functions and parameters within Analog Lab. The Category buttons let you immediately refine your search for the right sound, while the jog wheel gives you precise control over preset browsing and selection. The Live button can be used to activate Split mode and set the split point. Choose from three layers of definable controller assignments and Macros within a Multi, giving you the ultimate hands-on Analog Lab experience to bring the sound of those iconic vintage synths and keyboards to life.

DAW Mode

The DAW mode quickly switches control to elements within your recording software. In this mode, the central jog wheel lets you move the playback cursor; the Next and Prev buttons let you shift focus on tracks by 1 or 8 channels at a time; the faders and knobs control the track levels and pan; and the Track Select buttons let you focus on particular tracks, letting you use the extensive DAW Commands on specific tracks.

User Mode

The User mode lets you decide how KeyLab 88 MkII works. Quickly choose one of the 10 User maps using the jog wheel, and practically every button, knob, fader, and pad on KeyLab 88 MkII will react exactly as you choose. Using the full-featured Arturia MIDI Control Center, you’ll be able to assign any MIDI CC function you desire to any control you wish, as well as set the minimum and maximum values to make sure you’re always hitting the sweet spot. Do you use Massive, Serum, or Omnisphere? Create a map just for them! In a mixing session? Create a map to control your effects and audio busses. Mastering? Get hands on, tactile control of every sensitive parameter in your multiband compressors, EQs, and limiters. You can even use a single map to control your favorite parameters in multiple effects and instruments at once!

DAW Commands

Not only does KeyLab 88 MkII offer thorough DAW control using the industry standard Mackie HUI data language, it also features 10 presets for some of the most popular recording software titles out there. To keep your session free of guesswork, KeyLab 88 MkII also provides you with 6 magnetic DAW overlays, so you’ll know exactly what every button does in your recording environment.

This controller includes overlays for Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, as well as standard Mackie and HUI setups.

Modular control

Lovers of vintage synth gear and modern Eurorack modular, we have something special in store for you. KeyLab 88 MkII’s modular options let you unite the worlds of MIDI and CV / gate like no other controller out there, and give you huge scope for integrating your modular gear with your DAW.

The rear panel includes five control voltage connections: Pitch Out, Gate Out, 2 Mod Outs and CV In. The CV outputs can be used to send control voltages and triggers to a modular synthesis system, while the input can be used to output CV signals from MIDI data in your DAW. The voltage range can quickly be defined using the quick access “User Edit” mode, or through the free, dedicated hardware hub Arturia MCC.

Thanks to this connectivity, KeyLab 88 MkII can interface with practically any kind of music-making technology, letting you use external modulation sources for plug-in instruments in your DAW, like Analog Lab. You can also start to integrate your modular setup into your software projects by sending perfect, automated data to your modular gear. This level of control is what KeyLab 88 MkII is all about.

Performance master

KeyLab 88 MkII’s RGB-backlit, touch and pressure-sensitive pads are not only the perfect surface for finger-drummer or triggering samples, they will also open up exciting new ways of performing with chords. The pads can be used in 3 different modes:

Pad Mode

The Pad mode is used to send MIDI notes or CC data, depending on how you’ve assigned it in the MCC. The dynamic, high-quality pads are great fun to perform and record percussion, and the colours can be assigned to specific pads to make it clear what type of sound, sample, or loop you’re triggering.

Chord Memory

KeyLab 88 MkII’s Chord Memory mode lets you store up to 16 unique chords, each containing up to 6 notes. This can be easily be set using the controller itself, or the Arturia MCC. Using this mode, you’ll be able to trigger chords with your left hand and play a melody on the keyboard with your right hand. You’ll be able to enjoy some factory preset chords straight away, too!

Chord Transpose

The Chord Transpose mode is a little more advanced, letting you trigger chord shapes selected by the pads when playing notes on the keyboard. The note selected is played as the route note, and the pad you choose builds the chord around it. The creative potential this gives you is huge, letting you experiment with harmonic overtones in your polyphonic lead sounds, create evolving, drifting pads, and much, much more.

Product Description

Redefining the portable keyboard experience

KeyStep is a new breed of portable musical tool combining the functionalities of a keyboard controller with a polyphonic step sequencer to control both analog and digital devices.

You need a portable USB MIDI controller but also want a keyboard that provides a musical playing experience? You have some MIDI modules you want to connect as well but don’t want the footprint of a large keyboard? You have modular and analog gear you want to control via CV/GATEs? You want a step sequencer with polyphonic capability that can sync to your favorite modern and vintage gear? If only a single piece of gear could do all of this…

The KeyStep controller does all this and more.

Arturia started by designing our own “slim key” keyboard action, balancing the best features of compact mini-keys with the musicality of full-sized keys into this new keybed. The size, velocity and aftertouch of this new design provide the freedom of portability without sacrificing playability.

They also designed a new polyphonic step-sequencer with 8 programmable memories that you can recall at the turn of knob. You can choose gate times and swing settings instantly to change the feel of your sequenced performance on the fly. We also included the ability to record, overdub, and transpose your sequences in real time and still play the keyboard live.

Add a flexible and fun arpeggiator mode and chord play mode and you are set for hours of musical adventures.

These features alone would make KeyStep the best portable keyboard controller on the market. But we take it further by giving you a wealth of connectivity options: USB MIDI (of course), standard MIDI in and out (check), clock sync and DIN sync jacks (yes!), and CV/GATE outputs, plus a separate, assignable modulation CV output that can be used with the mod wheel, velocity or aftertouch. To say KeyStep is an amazing little controller does not say enough.

Keystep is the perfect performance controller in a compact package.

Adapts to your setup!

KeyStep was imagined and designed to become the modern musician’s trump-card.

Whatever your setup, KeyStep will merge into it to overdrive your workflow and effectiveness. With KeyStep and its range of connections you can control any digital or analog synthesizer from the past, today and even tomorrow. Sequence them all!

KeyStep: One objective meeting yours.

Sometimes, simplicity is the key to efficiency and the best way to materialize an idea into a sonic result. The design of the KeyStep is based entirely on this vision. Going straight to the point, skating over the constraints and letting musicians focus on their art are KeyStep’s ambitions. Whether your setup is analog or digital, KeyStep will allow you to reach a whole new level of control and creativity.

Connect

Versatility is key

KeyStep is made to widen the potential of your setup, regardless of what instruments compose it. It is compatible with practically all existing synthesizers, either analog or digital, hardware or software. .

CV for enthousiasts

The three CV outputs send pitch and gate signals along with velocity, aftertouch or mod. ribbon signal to control an analog instrument or module.

Digital & Analog

The MIDI DIN output can be used to control any MIDI hardware instrument while the USB connection allows you to control your plugins and virtual instruments.

Sustain or not sustain...

KeyStep also integrates a socket for a sustain pedal, sync input and output to follow or send a clock signal, and MIDI input to use an external keyboard or use KeyStep as a MIDI to CV converter.

Here is a setup example showing the possibilities of this amazing piece of technology

Create

Never before has a portable keyboard controller incorporated this quantity of features.

Having many devices, many plugins and many modules is a pleasure. Nobody makes secret of it. However, few things are more frustrating than accumulating instruments without being fully able to use them. KeyStep allows you to regain control over your instruments.

KeyStep is loaded with features aimed at boosting your creative freedom. A 32-slimkey keybed with velocity and aftertouch, an 8-mode arpeggiator, a polyphonic sequencer with up to 64 steps and 8 simultaneous notes per step.

Perform

Like its brothers BeatStep and BeatStep Pro, KeyStep is representative of a new breed of portable controller allowing musicians to free themselves from their computer, in particular in live conditions.

KeyStep is all about spontaneity and immediacy, strengthening the link that musicians can experience with their performance and their public. Each feature has been thought out to match live artists hopes and needs including real-time sequence rewriting, smart sequence-swapping function and simultaneous playing/sequencing.

KeyStep will give an unprecedented magnitude to your live sessions.

Three modes of operation

Sequencer

In Sequencer mode you can record, play and transpose a polyphonic sequence with up to 64 steps and 8 simultaneous notes per step. Sequencer mode also allows you to rewrite in real-time your sequence and even to play and sequence simultaneously on two different MIDI channels.

Arpegiattor

The arpegiattor allows you to play each note of a chord consecutively instead of simultaneously. The eight possible playing directions and the Time Division knob will enable the creation of complex and mazy melodies.

Controller

KeyStep stands up to most of the bigger keyboard controllers thanks to its prolific array of features including a custom 32-slim-key keybed with velocity and aftertouch, highly reactive pitch and modulation capacitive ribbons and above all the possibility of controlling almost every type of synthesizer by MIDI and CV.

Analog Super-Synth

MatrixBrute is an analog synthesizer that redefines a class of performance and studio synths that has not been matched since the glory days of the 70’s and 80’s.

Designed to be flexible and fun to use, evocative and awe inspiring, and most importantly, a world-class musical instrument; the MatrixBrute gives you the depth you need to design and keep inspired for years to come.

The goal was to create a synthesizer with the flexibility of a modular but at the same time have it be intuitive and programmable for the live and studio musician. 1:1 knob and button interface for ease of use; pure analog sound with the fattest oscillator in the industry; two filters based on the original designs of Dr. Bob and Nyle Steiner, but taken to new levels; real analog delay effects on the output and the eye catching matrix modulation. All these features and more add up to create a landmark electronic music platform.

Tone Generation

The foundation for any great synthesizer requires great oscillators.

We have them in spades! The MatrixBrute has two ‘Brute style’ oscillators, each with its own sub oscillator and the wave shapers that made the Minibrute the new standard in analog synths. With the analog UltraSaw you can make this single oscillator sound like three detuned sawtooth oscillators. The Metalizer on the triangle wave can take your sound from mello to extreme. The sub-oscillator with its waveform control adds low end beefy goodness.
We also give you a third oscillator that has sine, triangle, saw and square waveforms. This unique oscillator can be used as an audio source and as a modulation source at the same time.

We have added the most advanced Noise generator on a production synth ever. With white, pink, red and blue noise colors, you can create all kinds of new sounds. The noise generator can also be a modulator to add some dirt to the oscillators or filters.

Complex Audio Mods

The AUDIO MOD section allows you to create complex audio modulations.

You can route oscillators to other oscialltors to create dense cross modulation sounds as well as routing oscillators and the noise generator to filters to add some more grit and grime into your sound.

Filters

The soul of a synthesizer is the filters. We decided to give the MatrixBrute two souls.

STEINER-PARKER

The Steiner-Parker multimode filter that we are known for in our MiniBrute and MicroBrute, has been brought back but this time we added our own flair to it. We added a DRIVE control to thicken up the filter sound. On top of this we changed it so that the slope can be 12db per octave, like the original, or 24db per octave for fatter sounds.

DR. BOB’S LADDER

The most famous filter used in synths is probably Dr. Robert Moog’s transistor ladder filter. We have brought you our version of this classic sounding filter with a new DRIVE control, 12 and 24db per octave slopes and LOW PASS, HIGH PASS and BAND PASS modes.

ROUTING

These two great filters can be set up to be in series or parallel modes multiplying the possibilities. A single offset knob allows you one control access to both filters for unheard of before sweeps.

Enter the Matrix

Undeniably the matrix is probably the first thing that caught your eye. It is big and brash and bold. Part routing system, part sequencer and part preset recall grid, the matrix is undoubtedly the most exciting thing to hit the synth world in a while.
Modulation routing

In our goal to create a programmable virtual modular we discovered some technology that allowed for the matrix modulation that is the centerpiece of the MatrixBrute. You can route any of 16 modulation sources to any of the 16 modulation destinations. Further, there are 4 destinations that are user assignable allowing you to customize each patch.

Using the data dial, you can set the amount of modulation for each cross point on the matrix. This is a much more flexible system than a simple patch cord and allows you to dial in just the right amount of modulation.

Sequencer

In sequencer mode the matrix becomes a 64 step sequencer capable of making awe inspiring melodic patterns. The sequencer supports Accent and Slide steps and has a separate function that gives you a different CV on each step that can be used as a modulation source. The possibilities with this as both a melodic and modulation source will inspire you for years to come.

Preset recall

When in a live situation, you need to be able to load presets quickly and easily. The Matrix can be used to instantly choose any of the 256 on-board preset memory locations. Simply press a button and you are there. No scrolling through lists or dealing with tiny displays. Pure performance pleasure.

Modulators

Modulation sources give life to your sound.
They animate it and give it dimension.

We have included 3 LFO modulation sources. LFO’s 1 and 2 give you a vast array of waveforms to choose from. These LFO’s can also sync to the sequencer or MIDI clock so that you can twist and bend your sound in time to the music.

The 3rd LFO is part of VCO 3 and has the ability to track the keyboard for sounds that change as you play up and down.

3 Envelopes are also included to give you time based control over filter, VCA’s or any other parameter you want to route them to via the matrix. Our hyper-fast punchy envelopes will allow you to create hard hitting bass and lead sounds. Draw them out and they become soundscape creating time machines.

Connectivity

Lastly a good synthesizer is part of an ecosystem.

One that allows you to work with other devices, and to interconnect modules using industry standard protocols. The MatrixBrute excels in this area. With 12 CV inputs and outputs that allow you to tie into the matrix, you can use Eurorack standard modules to add even more flexibility to MatrixBrute.

Imagine being able to plug in a boutique company modulation source and controlling the powerful MatrixBrtue synth engine. Imagine using sources or macros in MatrixBrute to then control multiple destinations in your custom modular synth. Imagine bringing external audio into the mixer so adding even more tone generating capability is just a plug away.

Syncronize your vintage drum machines or external sequencers with the DIN/clock sync in and outs. Connect to a computer using USB or to MIDI equipped sound modules. External pedal controllers like footswitches or expression pedals can also be used to give you more performance options. Matrixbrute is the pinnacle of analog sound and connectivity.

Performance controls

A synthesizer is meant to be an interactive musical instrument.

At the center is the keyboard and our 49 note velocity keybed with aftertouch gives you a great platform for playing. But playing the synthesizer is more than just pressing keys. We have the standard pitch bend and mod wheels that you will find on most synths but we have added 4 macro knobs that can be assigned, and routed via the Matrix, to any of the modulation destinations. This allows for single knob control of up to 16 parameters. Using the macros will take your performances to new levels. On top of this we have an amazing sequencer and arpeggiator for making musical patterns or tempo sync’ed modulations.

Analog Output effects

Synthesizers and effects can be a touchy subject.

Too often companies put poor quality, poor sounding digital effects at the end of their analog audio chain which leads to bad overall sound. We have built in 5 high quality true analog effects that will be sure to impress. From stereo delay and mono delay to chorus and flanging as well as a unique multi-tap reverberator, our new analog effects are the perfect finish to this impressive sound chain.

Product Description

A synthesizer like no other, MicroFreak is a peculiar, exceptional instrument that rewards the curious musician. It blends wavetable and digital oscillators with analog filters. It features a unique poly-aftertouch flat keyboard. It adds controlled randomness to sequences. This isn’t a revolution, it’s a mutiny.

Un Grain De Folie - A Touch Of Madness

This out-there little music machine features a versatile digital oscillator so you can create rare and interesting sounds with ease. Modes like Texturer, KarplusStrong, Harmonic OSC, and Superwave give adventurous musicians the chance to explore totally new, unheard possibilities. Like having dozens of synths in just one instrument, both wild-eyed newcomers and seasoned professionals will fall in love with MicroFreak’s flexible, powerful synth engine.

Small but fierce

MicroFreak packs so much in to such a compact instrument, you'll wonder how we did it. We'd love to say it was magic, but it was pure skill and passion.

Physical modelling, wavetable synthesis, virtual analog, there is nothing as complete and exciting as the MicroFreak oscillator on the market. It's hard to believe from such a small synth, but here it is, ready for you to explore. Excite your creativity and reward your curiosity with a large, diverse sound palette. MicroFreak features 11 awesome oscillators, 4 bespoke Arturia engines, and 7 modes from our friends at Mutable Instruments.

There's a little freak inside you, and this instrument will bring it out.

The best of both worlds

Even though MicroFreak has a digital oscillator at its heart, “opposites attract” as the saying goes. That’s why we’ve included a lush-sounding analog filter.

Inspired by the trailblazing 12-dB Oberheim SEM filter, you can make MicroFreak’s filter scream or whisper to taste. The filter is state-variable, and can even auto-oscillate! You can use this is any way you like, from taking the edge of the razor-sharp wavetable sounds, or automating the cutoff by modulating it with keyboard pressure or the in-built sequencer.

Wait. Did we mention that MicroFreak has a sequencer? And a mod matrix? Things are about to get seriously interesting...

Taste the spice, throw the dice

MicroFreak is packed with unique, exciting features that let you create music with a fresh perspective.

Record up to four automations, edit notes per step or use the innovative Spice and Dice sequencer functions to find happy accidents. Add randomization to create evolving, original patterns, and virtually rewire and reconfigure its signal chain and controls with the 5x7 modulation matrix.

This truly is a budget-friendly synth like no other.

“That’s a funny looking keyboard”

That’s right, it is. It isn’t really even a keyboard. It’s a PCB. Super-flat, with no moving parts. Will it track lightning-fast synth solos? You bet. Better than a traditional keyboard, actually.

Will it let you be expressive? Of course, it’s not only pressure sensitive, but also offers poly-aftertouch. This means each key can control parameters in a different way depending on how much you touch.

You can also use its USB, MIDI, and CV outputs to control instruments in your DAW and modular synths. This also means that you can also use MicroFreak as a controller to experience polyphonic aftertouch with cutting edge software instruments.
