Barefoot Sound MasterStack12

The MasterStack12,Barefoot’s flagship reference monitor 4.5-way active modular tower with 10 drive units represents the pinnacle of Thomas’ achievements in monitor speaker design to-date.Over a decade ago, Thomas Barefoot applied his expertise and experience as an engineer, scientist and inventor in the computer industry to his lifelong passion for music. Approaching the pro audio industry with a fresh pair of eyes, he concluded that every project would benefit from using monitors with the same sound quality, dynamic range and bass extension at each stage of the production process. The innovative reference monitor designs that Thomas subsequently developed not only deliver the same performance and quality from recording through mastering, they also turned the studio monitor speaker business on its head, outperforming many well-established high-end products.

A 1-in. ring radiator tweeter, two 2.5-in. mid-range, three 7-in. woofers and four 12-in. subwoofers — housed in two cabinets. A third enclosure houses signal and power distribution and may be optionally used as a decoupling base unit for each tower.

What is a 4.5-way system?

In a typical 4-way system, subwoofers, woofers, mid-range drivers and tweeters all operate within discrete frequency bands, transitioning from one to the next at the frequencies set in the crossover networks. In the MasterStack12 system, all three woofers work together in the lower frequencies of the band, down to the frequency at which the subwoofers take over. But only two woofers extend up to the mid-range band crossover point. Having three woofers working together in the lower portion of the band offers lower distortion through greater efficiency. At higher frequencies, where the signal becomes increasingly more directional, there is a smooth transition to the wider dispersion pattern created by just two woofers.

Four speakers in one

Like all Barefoot monitors, the MasterStack12 features revolutionary MEME™ (Multi-Emphasis Monitor Emulation™) technology, which harnesses sophisticated DSP modeling to mimic the frequency, phase, transient response, dynamic compression and distortion characteristics of various classic nearfield studio monitors. Many people still like to reference their work on old, familiar monitors to check how their mixes will translate or to focus on a specific aspect. But with Barefoot monitors you can put those other reference speakers into storage and free up some space on the console, because one set of MasterStack12 monitors can take the place of three alternate pairs.

Using a wired remote you can switch your Barefoot monitors through four different voices and preview your mix as it would sound through three alternate reference speakers, all without moving from the optimum stereo listening position. “Old School” rolls off the extreme highs and lows and brings the mid-range presence forward, capturing the essence of the NS10M. “Cube” is an homage to the classic full-range micro-monitor and is a useful reference setting for any mix that you expect to be played on earbuds through a laptop or handheld device. “HiFi” behaves like a home audiophile speaker, warming up the mid-range and sweetening the highs, for client playback or just listening in the control room. “Flat” selects the true, revealing Barefoot sound.

Barefoot Sound Footprint01 Monitors (Pair) (Barefoot Sound Footprint01 Monitors (Pair))

Barefoot Sound Footprint 01 Monitors

The Footprint01 is a active 3-way speaker that shares the same Thomas Barefoot signature designs — Dual-Force technology opposing sub woofers, dual ring radiator tweeter and Multi-Emphasis Monitor Emulation technology— as the MicroMain and MasterStack monitor lines. Footprint01 features dual opposing 8-inch paper cone subwoofers, a 4-inch aluminum cone midrange driver and a 1-inch dual ring radiating tweeter, components that all share a lineage with Barefoot’s other products.

The 2-way DSP crossover feeds dual Class D amplifier modules that drive the subwoofers with 500W of power and deliver 150W to the mid- and high-frequency drivers. There is a passive crossover network between the midrange driver and the tweeter. The midrange woofer is positioned above the tweeter in an unusual speaker geometry that creates the acoustic focus in the center of the cabinet.

Thomas Barefoot’s approach to reference monitor speaker design has always been to provide audio professionals with exemplary sound quality, wide dynamic range and bass extension at every stage of the audio production process, from recording through mixing to mastering. But not every project begins or ends in a high-end studio that offers Barefoot MicroMain or MasterStack monitors. The new Footprint01 model is Barefoot Sound’s response to evolving modern workflows, making the company’s ultra-high performance technologies available to audio professionals working in home-based facilities, smaller writing, editing or post production rooms, or on the road. Now, composers, songwriters, musicians, beat-makers, post production specialists and others can benefit from the Barefoot sound, whatever their work environment.

Prepare yourself for the next Barefoot revolution!

Barefoot Sound MicroMain26 Monitors (Pair) (Barefoot Sound MicroMain26 Monitors (Pair))

Barefoot Sound MicroMain26 Monitors

The MicroMain26 from barefoot sound is a 4-way active system with 6 drive units housed in sealed enclosures with breathtaking dynamic range and ultra-fast transient response. The ring radiator tweeter is incredibly detailed and produces very wide dispersion out to its highest frequencies. The 2.5” aluminium cone midrange is housed in a cutting edge 3D printed waveguide enclosure. The 5.25″ woofers feature a phalanx of advanced technology, yielding upper bass and lower midrange detail that rivals any driver on the planet.

Barefoot has teamed up with the brilliant Bruno Putzeys of Hypex to develop the powerful and completely transparent amplifier stage used in every Barefoot monitor. Melding the system together is a ground-breaking new DSP crossover that took Thomas Barefoot more than 4 years to develop. With beautifully designed high end converters and cutting edge proprietary filtering techniques the MM26 sound stage is seamlessly coherent and deeply revealing.

MEME™ Technology: Despite the advantages of high resolution monitors, Thomas Barefoot realizes that many engineers still use their NS10M’s and mix cubes as secondary references. These speakers have long traditions and people find them familiar and useful for focusing in on certain aspects of their mix. However, crowding one’s console with those extra boxes degrades the sound field of the primary reference monitors. Not to mention, they are no longer manufactured, they need amplifiers, cable runs, and they consume more studio space. The solution is to make the MM26 sound and translate like those speakers. With the turn of a knob one can switch from the MicroMain26′s brutally revealing “Flat” response to the warmer and sweeter “Hi-Fi” setting, generically emulating the sound of some high end consumer audio gear. More specifically the “Old School” setting closely emulates the sound of the NS10M nearfield, while the “Cube” setting emulates the mid-centric sound of classic mix cubes. The idea is not to perfectly replicate every subtle quirk of these venerable old speakers. That would be impossible. But the MM26 can capture the essence of how they behave and translate, modeling their frequency, phase and transient responses, dynamic compression and even specific distortion components. If you know how to work on these speakers you will feel very comfortable working on the new MM26′s emulation settings.

Barefoot Sound MicroStack45

With the recent introduction of Barefoot Sound’s MicroSub45 Dual-Force technology subwoofer you can create MicroStack45, a stereo package of two MicroMain45 3-way active reference monitors and two MicroSub45 subwoofers. Each stereo system incorporates a pair of 1-inch tweeters, four 2.5-inch midrange drivers and six high-excursion 8-inch woofers, all designed to work seamlessly together and as a single unit.

Dual-Force Low Frequency Extension

MicroSub45 subwoofers feature Barefoot’s innovative Dual-Force technology, housing a pair of opposing 8-inch aluminum cone drivers plus a balanced analog high-pass filter that crosses the system over at 80 Hz. Dual-Force technology eliminates vibration within the MicroSub45 speaker cabinet, delivering clean low frequency extension down to 25 Hz when combined with the MicroMain45.

Stacks and Tilts

Barefoot Sound’s MicroStack45 system works optimally when the MicroMain45 monitors are positioned either directly on top of or underneath the MicroSub45 subwoofers, depending on your preference. A tilt feature enables the MicroMain45 monitors to be directed at the listening sweet spot and is designed so that the stack is very sturdy and will not slip.

If working to a budget, start with a stereo pair of MicroMain45 monitors then add two MicroSub45 subwoofers when the time is right.

Big Bottom Plus Headroom For Days. Dual-Force, a core Barefoot technology, eliminates vibration within the MicroSub45 speaker cabinet, delivering clean low frequency extension down to 25 Hz when added to each MicroMain45. Plus, because each 500W MicroSub45 reproduces everything below 80 Hz, adding a pair to a stereo set of MicroMain45 monitors also increases the headroom of the entire system.

Also available in the  Micro stack 45 system, MicroMain45 monitors and MicroSub45 subwoofers are also available as a package — the stereo MicroStack45 system.

Barefoot Sound MiniMain12 Monitors (Pair) (Barefoot Sound MiniMain12 Monitors (Pair))

Barefoot Sound MiniMain12 Monitors

The MiniMain12 is a 4-way active system with 7 drive units housed in sealed enclosures spanning 20Hz to 40kHz with vanishingly low distortion, breathtaking dynamic range and ultra-fast transient response. Every driver has an under-hung voice coil moving inside an advanced geometry motor that enables it make extremely long linear excursions. The ring radiator tweeter is incredibly detailed and produces very wide dispersion out to its highest frequencies. The aluminum cone subwoofers, woofers and midranges radiate as perfect pistons to at least 2.5 octaves beyond their respective bandwidths. Barefoot has teamed up with the brilliant Bruno Putzeys of Hypex to develop the powerful and completely transparent amplifier stage of the MM12. Melding the system together is a groundbreaking DSP crossover that has taken Thomas Barefoot more than 4 years to develop. With beautifully designed high end converts and cutting edge proprietary filtering techniques the MiniMain12 produces such a seamless and coherent wavefront that, if you dare, you can actually listen to this speaker from less than 3 feet away with no sonic compromise. And yes, the MM12 works perfectly out to far field distances as well, producing SPLs equivalent to big mains.

If all this weren’t enough, the MiniMain12 brings yet another revolutionary feature into the mix – MEME™(Multi Emphasis Monitor Emulation™) technology. While no other monitor in the world can match the MM12’s linearity and transparency, the MM12 actually has the capability to emulate other speakers! Despite the advantages of high resolution monitors, Thomas Barefoot realizes that many engineers still use their NS10M’s and mix cubes as secondary references. So why not make the MM12 sound and translate like those speakers as well? With the turn of a knob one can switch from the MiniMain12’s brutally revealing “Flat” response to the warmer and sweeter “Hi-Fi” setting, generically emulating the sound of some high end consumer audio gear. More specifically the “Old School” setting closely emulates the sound of the NS10M nearfield, while the “Cube” setting emulates the mid-centric sound of classic mix cubes. The idea is not to perfectly replicate every subtle quirk of these venerable old speakers. That would be impossible. But the MiniMain12 can capture the essence of how they behave and translate, modeling their frequency, phase and transient responses, dynamic compression and even some of their distortion components. If you know how to work on these speaker you will feel very comfortable working on the MM12’s emulation settings.

Barefoot Sound MasterStack 12 Handles (Barefoot Sound MasterStack 12 Handles)

Barefoot Sound MasterStack12 Handles

Pack of 16 handles designed to make it easier for you to move and position the MasterStack12 speakers in your studio.

The Barefoot Sound MasterStack12 with handles are a reference monitor system that is a 4.5-way active modular tower with 10 drive units. The MasterStack 12 features handles to allow you to easily move them about your studio to find the perfect positive and, built with revolutionary MEME (Multi-Emphasis Monitor Emulation) technology, which harnesses sophisticated DSP modeling to mimic the frequency, phase, transient response, dynamic compression and distortion characteristics of various classic nearfield studio monitors. With the provided wired remote you can switch your Barefoot monitors through four different voices and preview your mix as it would sound through three alternate reference speakers, all without moving from the optimum stereo listening position.

Includes pedestals and handles.
