Chandler Germanium MKII 500 - Mic Pre For Api 500 Series Racks (Chandler Germanium MKII 500 )

The Germanium 500 is a 500-series compatible Germanium preamp. No circuit or transformer changes were necessary to adapt Chandler Limited designer Wade Goeke's original Germanium Preamp/DI into this version.

Just like the original Germanium Preamp/DI, the Germanium 500 Preamp/DI uses classic germanium transistors in all class A, transformer balanced, circuits. The use of germanium devices opens a whole new sound palate not found in any pro audio equipment currently manufactured.

These incredibly smooth sounding transistors were the basis of the earliest transistor designs by Neve (1053, 1055, 1057), EMI (TG12345 MKI), Telefunken, and Fairchild. Those familiar with these units can attest to the special sound of the germanium transistor.

The GERMANIUM series runs on high power, high current, and has a huge output before clipping. The sound is warm and smooth as with many vintage style circuits, but you'll find a whole new world of smooth here as well as a sound that settles in perfectly to your tracks without fighting.

Add these new circuits to Chandler's new transformer line that combines the best parts of our favorite trannies, St. Ives and Gardners, into new great sounding input and output transformers

Germanium 500 Preamp/DI is compatible with third-party racks, but for lowest noise and best possible performance, we recommend using the Chandler PSU-500 to replace the external power supply issued with your third-party rack. Germanium 500 will not work with racks with internal power supplies, or the API Lunchbox.

The Chandler Limited PSU-500 is a 3 amp external power supply designed to be used with the a 500 series rack set to +16 and -16 volts and 48 volts for phantom power. When ordering the PSU-500, please specify which rack you are using to ensure the correct 4-pin to 5-pin power cord is included.

Chandler TG2-500 - 500-Series Mic Pre (Chandler TG2-500 - 500-Series Mic Pre)

CHANDLER TG2-500 - 500-SERIES MIC PRE

The Chandler TG2-500 is a 500 Series mic preamp that delivers the classic sound of the EMI TG12428 pre amp used in EMI/Abbey Road recording and mastering consoles in the late 60s and early 70s—in the company’s 500 series module form factor.

The TG2-500 uses identical circuit, transistors, and transformers from the TG2 preamp. The TG2-500 delivers 10 – 60 dB of gain and uses a coarse gain control and a fine gain control as found on EMI consoles. The unit provides 300 and 1200 Ohm input impedance as on the TG2, which the company’s customers have come to value.

Equally important, the Chandler TG2-500 delivers frequency response identical to the TG2. Equally notable, the TG2-500 has the same high frequency bump and mid forward tone that users enjoy with the TG2, along with the warmth inducing distortion which contributes to its sound. The end result is a creamy, smooth tone with a surprisingly open, clear top end. The sound, as explained by many users, has the ‘warmth and punch’ of the Neve, but with a nicer, expanded top end.

Chandler TG Channel MK II - Mono EMI mic/line/DI pre-amp & EQ (Chandler TG Channel MK II - Mono EMI mic)
Chandler TG Channel MK II - Mono EMI mic/line/DI pre-amp & EQ EMI mic pre-amp from custom consoles used by The Beatle, Pink Floyd. With EQ and DI input it's sound is very comparable to Pultec and Lang program eqs but made from TG circuits

Description:

The Chandler Limited Channel is a recreation of several classic circuits and combines a TG2 pre amp section with an equalizer that was redesigned from an equalization circuit used in the TG12410 Transfer or mastering console. The mastering counterpart to the original "Beatles desks". Our version has been remade using original design information and circuit board drawings as provided by Abbey Road to ensure extreme authenticity! We've even remolded the old TG style pointer knobs.

The active portions of the unit use the same discrete amplifiers and transformers as in the TG1 Limiter and TG2 pre amp. The passive equalizer portion of the EQ is an all inductor design and offers sweet high frequencies with large inductor based lows, and a very high "Q" mid cut section. Designed to sound like a fine musical instrument instead of a modern surgical tool, it's sound is very comparable to Pultec and Lang program eqs but made from TG circuits. A simple description would be a TG Pultec with a TG pre amp thrown in...

Chandler RS124 Compressor (Chandler RS124 Compressor)

CHANDLER RS124 COMPRESSOR

The Chandler Limited RS124 Compressor is a recreation of one of the most coveted audio valve compressors of all time, the legendary EMI/Abbey Road RS124, re imagined for use in the modern studio environment.

First designed in 1960 by Abbey Road Head of Techncial Bill Livey, Deputy Head Len Page and seasoned EMI Audio Designer Mike Batchelor, the Abbey Road RS124 compressor is one of the most coveted pieces of recording gear ever developed.

Born out of the inadequate Altec 436Bs acquired by EMI in the late 1950s for Abbey Road Studios, the RS124 compressor is most closely associated with recordings made by The Beatles at Abbey Road Studios. Present on virtually every Beatles session, the RS124 left its remarkable signature across most of the catalog.

The RS124’s undeniably smooth character and ability to tame transients without muffling the sound at steep compression levels, quickly became popular with Abbey Road Studios engineers and widely used throughout the now historic studio, for tracking, buss compression, mixing, and mastering. They where so integral to the recording and mixing process that a pair can be seen in almost every control room photo in Abbey Road Studios during the 60s period.

The RS124 Compressor was built for use at Abbey Road Studios, and was never commercially available.

Through the years, from incomplete information and supposition, some have tried to recreate the holy grail of tube compressors, though never fully capturing the elusive Abbey Road RS124 in all its glory.

Schematics themselves only told part of the story, and access to Abbey Road Studios’ historic units and various hand written modification notes would prove paramount towards understanding the true nature of the Abbey Road RS124 compressor and variances between units.

Many revisions were carried out since its inception, and as a result, the Abbey Road RS124 valve compressor has remained a mystery for decades, until now.

Available now, for the first time ever, the Chandler Limited RS124 Compressor harnesses the sound and personalities of Abbey Road Studios’ favorite historic RS124 Compressors (Ser. No’s 60070B, 60050A, and 61010B) still in use at the famed studio to this day, all in a single unit.

Along with features traditionally found on the original counterparts, Input control, Output attenuation, ‘Recovery’ (release) control and the unique ‘HOLD’ setting, the Chandler Limited RS124 Compressor includes modern facilities such as adjustable attack, selectable output impedance, and a special twist, dubbed the ‘SuperFuse’.

CHANDLER TG12345 CURVE BENDER - STEREO EQ (CHANDLER TG12345 CURVE BENDER - STEREO EQ)

The EMI TG12345 Curve Bender is the ultimate TG equalizer issued in celebration of the 75th birthday of Abbey Road Studios. The Curve Bender was conceived by Chandler Limited designer Wade Goeke and Abbey Road senior engineer Peter Cobbin and is based on the vintage EMI TG12345 desk used to record The Beatles and Pink Floyd.

This newest EMI equalizer continues the tradition of EMI eqs started in 1951 with the RS56, affectionately entitled the Curve bender by EMI designers and continued with the TG12345 in 1968, and TG12412 in 1974. The newest version takes the simple but beautiful sounding TG12345 equalizer and realizes it in a fully featured and rethought package for today's use.

During his mixing of numerous Beatles related projects including, Anthology, Yellow Submarine, and Imagine, Peter Cobbin thought of having a fully featured and ultimately flexible version of the original desk eq units. After Wade presented him with a working version of the famed console eq Pete realized his time had come and set Wade to making his unit.

Peter asked for four bands and filters based on the slopes of the original desk but with overlapping and expanded choices. Wade turned the 9 selections on the vintage version into 51 eq points plus a multiply switch that increases the boost/cut to 15db (as well as sharpening the Q), filters, and bell/shelf selections on the high and low bands.

A simple equalizer from the rich past of EMI and Abbey Road has now come full circle into a modern powerhouse suitable for recording, mixing, and mastering. The rest is NEW Chandler Limited/EMI/Abbey Road history...

CHANDLER LITTLE DEVIL PREAMP - 500 SERIES MODULE (CHANDLER LITTLE DEVIL PREAMP - 500 SERIES MODULE)

The Chandler Little Devil PreAmp is a 500-Series microphone pre amplifier. The device features Gain, Feedback, Amplifier Bias, Impedance, Low Cut, Brightness, and Output controls which enable you to finely shape the tonality of your sound. Different combinations of these controls change the harmonics, distortion, and frequency response of your signal for different musical effects.

The Chandler Little Devil PreAmp uses Class-A transformer-balanced circuits, and is handmade in the U.S.A. from discrete components. The XLR microphone input, XLR signal output, and power connections for this device are built into the lunchbox rack enclosure that the module plugs into.

The pre amp can also function as a signal processor for adding tonal character to your tracks and mixes. By switching the Mic/Line switch to Line and connecting a line-level input you can add warmth, distortion, and harmonics to your DAW tracks, buss submixes, or stereo buss. For direct input, the pre amp also includes an unbalanced 1/4" TRS line connection on the front panel, allowing the device to function as a color box for your guitar, keyboard, or bass.

Gain Knob
The pre amp offers 66 dB of Class-A amplifier gain

Feedback Knob
The front panel includes a Feedback knob that changes both the amount of variable negative feedback and the bias of the amplifier. Turning this knob changes the total harmonic distortion, high and low frequency response, clipping characteristics, and the overall tonal color of your sound

Output Knob
The Output knob of the pre amp works like the fader on a mixing console, and allows you to trim the output signal. In combination with the other controls, the output knob allows you to shape the tone of your sound

DI/Unbalanced In
The pre amp includes an unbalanced input jack for guitar, bass, and other instruments. The direct in bypasses the balanced transformer stage and connects directly to the Class-A input of the pre amp

Mic/Line
The Mic/Line switch changes the balanced input of the pre amp from microphone to line-level signal

Bright Switch
The Bright switch on the front panel lessens the dampening of the output transformer and adds more high frequency information to the sound

Low Cut
The Low Cut switch on the front panel provides a gently sloping 100 Hz low-frequency cut

Impedance Switch
The front panel of the pre amp includes a Low/High Impedance switch that changes the impedance between 300Ω and 1200Ω for both mic and line inputs. Changing the impedance changes the focus of the sound between the mid and low frequencies

Phantom Power
The pre amp features a switch that supplies 48V of phantom power

Phase Switch
The Phase switch on the front panel of the pre amp reverses the polarity of the output
