The Rupert Neve Designs 5060 Centerpiece is a high-quality recording console designed for modern studios. Here are some key features and functions of the 5060:
Modular Hybrid Design
The 5060 is a modular, hybrid analog/digital mixing system that seamlessly integrates with your digital audio workstation (DAW). It allows you to combine analog warmth with the convenience of DAW control.
Custom Transformers
The console features custom transformers designed by Rupert Neve, which contribute to its unique and larger-than-life sound. You can use the Silk/Texture controls to dial in the desired amount of color and character.
Stereo Input Channels
Channels 1-8 feature professional-grade 100mm faders and can be used for stereo or center-panned mono signals. Each channel has mute switches and inserts. Channels 1-2 and 3-4 have optional talkback assignment.
Stereo Inputs Channels 9-24
There are eight active stereo inputs with rotary faders for stem and auxiliary inputs.
Stereo Buss Master
A 100mm stereo fader controls the master stereo buss output. The console also includes a transformer-coupled insert for adding compression and EQ to the mix buss.
Texture & Silk Modes
The Texture control allows you to fine-tune the harmonic ratio and tonality of both stereo outputs. The Silk modes (Red and Blue) add harmonic content and can be used to accentuate specific frequency ranges.
Talkback
The console includes a talkback microphone that can be activated by pressing the Talkback switch. It has level control, a direct out, and assignment to insert sends. When the talkback is active, the speaker output levels are lowered.
Transport Controls
The console provides standard transport controls for DAWs, including play, stop, record, fast-forward, rewind, loop, shuttle/jog, and marker drop. These controls can be accessed via MIDI or USB interconnection.
Monitor Source Selection
You can select the monitor source from the stereo buss and three external monitor inputs.
Monitor Select
This function allows you to select which speaker output is active. Holding the Mon 3 button can enable both Mon 1 and 2 for use with subwoofers or additional speakers.
Headphone Amplifier
The console includes a reference-grade headphone amplifier with headphone level control. The headphone signal follows the monitor select settings.
Monitor Level
A precision 21-step attenuator provides accurate left/right stereo tracking and controls the level of the monitor output.
Meters
The console features VU meters that display the RMS signal level of the selected monitor source. The peak indicator illuminates red when the peak threshold is exceeded.
Dim
The Dim function is engaged when either the Dim or Talkback switch is depressed. It reduces the volume of the monitor output within a range of -6dB to -30dB.
The Rupert Neve Designs 5060 Centerpiece aims to deliver the exceptional quality of the larger 5088 console in a more compact, modular framework, making it an ideal choice for modern sound-conscious studios.
