Merging Anubis – Powerful Ethernet Audio Interface

Powerful Ethernet Audio Interface

Merging Anubis + Music Mission : Merging Anubis Pro 32-bit, 4 input 6 output, Audio Interface with Ravenna

The new Music Mission transforms Merging’s desktop device into a powerful recording mixer and Ethernet audio interface.

Monitor Control:

With the Anubis’s two pairs of line‑level outputs routed to studio monitors, the user gets hands‑on control over speaker switching, mute, dim, mono downmix and level control. This is not as jaw‑droppingly comprehensive as the control available in the Monitor Mission, but delve into the Settings menu and you’ll find it’s still very configurable. For instance, it’s possible to set a reference level for the main monitors and an offset for the alternates, and the Music Mission can also handle crossover duties in a 2.1 or 2.2 monitoring system.

Merging RAVENNA:

Merging RAVENNA interface such as a Horus or Hapi is attached to the system, peering allows the user to treat its inputs and outputs as though they belonged to the Anubis itself. The Anubis mixers expand to include all available hardware inputs, up to a maximum of 48 input strips at all sample rates below 352.8kHz, and the outputs from these mixers can be freely assigned to peered outputs instead of local ones (each mixer can only address one output pair at a time, though). You can even control preamp settings on attached Horus or Hapi units directly from the Anubis.

UNITE Control:

Merging also made available a new utility they call UNITE, and this turns what was a complex and largely manual setup process into something you can breeze through with a few mouse‑clicks. In a complex network setup, you’ll probably need to get to grips with ANEMAN and its comprehensive virtual patchbay, but in a typical studio system with a single computer, UNITE makes it easy to access the physical I/O you need.

Supremely Flexible:

The same simple icons, coloured blocks and text are perfect for the Anubis’s fairly petite TFT display. Compared with the browser‑based view, the only things obviously missing are the mute buttons, which can be accessed by tapping on a channel to bring up its horizontal fader view. Conversely, at the time of writing, the editable interfaces for the EQ, dynamics and reverb are available only on the TFT, though by the time you read this, a further update should make these accessible from browsers and tablets

Modes of Operation:

Each band has five possible modes of operation: peak, low shelf, high shelf, high‑pass filter and low‑pass filter. Up to 24dB of boost or attenuation can be applied in the peak and shelving modes, and frequency and Q are fully variable. It looks as though you should be able to move the frequency bands around by tapping and dragging on the touchscreen; in fact, tapping a band just selects it for editing, and the encoder is used to adjust values, but this is easy once you get used to it.

Merging Quality:

This ultra-mobile and stylish unibody case offers astonishing A/D performance with a dynamic range of 139dB with equally impressive mic pres. Our pristine D/A technology ensures that you hear what your project deserves. Anubis come in two variants: Anubis Pro gives you exceptional performance up to 192kHz. If your mission is working in true high-resolution, Anubis Premium offers up to 384kHz and DXD plus DSD flavors up to 256. What else would you expect from Merging!

Ultimate Sound Quality:

Killer headphone circuit! Merging has invested great efforts in designing our best ever headphone preamplifier, offering the precision you need to evaluate your mix whatever the sample rate.

Anubis is engineered with the latest generation converter technology, coupled with 28 years of experience in designing excellence reference quality. A 32bit signal path from input to output via the mixer, combined with the latest circuit design, its short audio signal path decreases the latency and improves the power distribution. Phenomenal performance at any sample rate!

Dual gain 32 bit A/D Circuitry:

Not only does this provide huge dynamic range with ample headroom, but you can control the gain independently for different circuits with clickless steps. It also allows for software add-ons. Creative innovation!

Dynamics section:

This features a gate, compressor and brick‑wall limiter, and does everything you’d want it to. Attack and release times can be set independently for the gate and compressor, and there’s a nice touch whereby the threshold and make‑up gain sliders automatically re‑scale themselves to enable a wide yet precise control range from the TFT.

Pros:

Considered as a small, portable recording device, an Anubis running the Music Mission has a lot going for it. It’s genuinely compact, and genuinely portable thanks to its robust carry case, standmount socket and powering options. It sounds absolutely superb, with what may well be the best mic preamps as an audio interface.
