HEDD Type 20 MK2 Active 3-way with Advanced DSP Summary:
<.center>
The HEDD Type 20 MK2 produces true reference-grade sound quality, with plenty of power, dynamics, and openness—even at super-high volumes. This world-class active studio monitor features an unusual three-way design that includes a powerful 7-inch woofer, a dedicated 4-inch midrange driver, and HEDD’s high-definition AMT tweeter. SHARC-powered DSP provides ruler-flat phase alignment, giving you tremendous depth and a wide stereo image. Furthermore, HEDD’s CoP technology enables you to run the Type 20 MK2 in either closed- or open-port mode, resulting in maximum low-end accuracy or response. You also receive three desk filter options and two shelving filter options to customize the monitor to your environment, as well as an extend mode for deeper low-frequency extension. Finally, high-end, stepped aluminum potentiometers offer the Type 20 MK2 a refined, luxury appearance. Whether used in nearfield or midfield settings, the HEDD Type 20 MK2 is an excellent choice for producing, mixing, and mastering.
HEDD’s unique Air Motion Transformer tweeters
When we tested the Type 20 MK2 here, we were blown away by the Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter’s flawless transient response and ultra-high-frequency extension. This tweeter, handmade in Berlin, is one of the world’s most transparent. It reproduces high frequencies in an exceptionally linear manner, without distortion, and sounds wonderfully genuine. If you’re looking for a powered studio monitor that won’t create ear fatigue during long studio sessions, the Type 20 MK2 is a safe bet.
SHARC-powered HEDD linearizer processing.
The Type 20 MK2 features fully integrated HEDD linearizer processing. This SHARC-powered DSP eliminates time-related delays with imperceptible, 10-millisecond responsiveness. In practice, this results in excellent transient reproduction and a rock-solid, ultra-wide stereo image. Furthermore, you may synchronize the Type 20 MK2’s phase correction with a HEDD bass subwoofer to account for group delay in a satellite-sub arrangement. Do you want to hear your mix without DSP? Not an issue. The Type 20 MK2’s HEDD linearizer processing is simply deactivated.
Closed or ported, the decision is yours.
The Type 20 MK2, like other studio monitors, is built around a ported bass system, which generates a massive low-end response and remarkable low-frequency extension. However, sometimes you prefer accurate bass over enormous bass. That is why the Type 20 MK2 features HEDD’s Closed or Ported (CoP) technology. This groundbreaking function lets you select between two separate sounds. To achieve optimal accuracy, put the provided foam plug into the speaker’s bass port and select closed mode. Remove the foam plug and switch to ported mode for a loud, powerful bass sound.
